CANNED Interview with Thomas Whittle
Tuesday 22 May, 11am
The North East based artist Thomas Whittle talks to Iris Priest (Editor of CANNED Magazine) about his work, its vast array of influences and the wider concerns about the position of the artist in contemporary society.
The interview is interspersed with snippets from Whittle’s extensive collection of found vinyl; from the “fruity noises” of a Siamese Cat lapping milk to post-Hardcore poetry, these records reflect the rich variety of source material at play in Whittle’s practice and underscore the enduring relationship his work holds to analogue mediums as direct and tactile means for communication.
