The conference on March 6 was as lively, engaging and informative as we hoped it would be, and it has kicked off a wide-ranging debate about the issues facing cinemas and other cultural venues as we move into the networked world.

The impact of new media and digital technologies on television is profound, and I am one of those who thinks that the days of channels and programmes that are 'broadcast' at a specific time is passing, to be replaced by the online delivery of content that will be branded 'BBC1', 'Channel 4' or 'Dave'.
