Rachel Lancaster

Treacle (7 minute film)

Treacle was developed as part of Lancaster's residency at Pixel Palace. Inspired by the language of cinema, Lancaster’s work explores the interplay between reality and illusion. Using ordinary household items to create Foley sound effects and moving image, Treacle playfully constructed a sense of disorientation and mystery in the central stairwell at Tyneside Cinema when it was exhibited as part of the Step Sequence programme in Spring 2012.

Lancaster creates works which reflect upon the language of cinema.

Rachel Lancaster shares her research process and development of new work.
